Collection of poems releasedSaturday March 17 2007 09:29 IST
T’PURAM: “The rulers who prostrate before human gods and ask them to save the land are a shame on democracy,” remarked writer Paul Zacharia. He was releasing Abhayarthippookkal, a collection of poems in audio format by Swami Samvidanand - a young saint based in Haridwar.“Such leaders are making a mockery of the faith of the people who voted them to power. The voters have given these leaders the responsibility to look after them and the leaders deceive them by passing on that responsibility to persons like Mata Amritanandamayi,” Zacharia said. Samvidanand is the only smiling saint I have met, but his poems are bold, he said.“All the poems in this collection are reflections of humanity and social issues,” said Zacharia. The first copy of the audio CD was received by poet Kureepuzha Sreekumar.“I have been living in the holy town of Haridwar for the last 12 years. But I felt many of the policies of the ashrams there are not that divine. My colleagues in the ashram have branded me a Communist as my roots are in Kerala and I often question injustice,” said Swami Samvidanand.Poet Murukan Kattakkada presided over the function. Journalist K.N.Shaji offered felicitations. The CD was brought out by Music Zone, Kochi.
